Monday, November 24, 2008 - Daily Announcements

Lunch is ravioli.

1. Tryouts for 7th grade volleyball will begin Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd for 8th grade. All girls trying out must have a current physical on file. See Coach Horner for any questions.

2. Chorus and Band students please turn in the fruit delivery day forms forhelping. You and your parent's assistance that day will make things runsmoothly and quickly. Jr. High descant practice and PACC for Jr. High baritones who missedyesterday.

3. Congratulations to Ethan ***** on an oustanding performance with the IMEA District 3 Band at ISU on Saturday. Way to go Ethan!

Friday, November 21, 2008 - Daily Announcements

Lunch is the big turkey dinner.

1. Tryouts for 7th grade volleyball will begin Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd for 8th grade. All girls trying out must have a current physical on file. See Coach Horner for any questions.

2. Cross Country runners, if you didn’t get your invitation for the Cross Country pizza party, please see Mrs. Schneider for one. She has the extras if you need it.

3. Good luck to Ethan ***** as he represents MGS in the District 3 IMEA Band at ISU tomorrow. Way to go Ethan!! We are proud of you!

4. The boys basketball team defeated Dee Mack last night 29-18. The Redbirds held their opponent to 3 baskets in the second half. Dakota ***** had a huge night with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Christian ***** had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals. Practice tonight after school.

2. Band and chorus students--Please take home the flyer concerning fruit delivery. We need help unloading and sorting orders on December 4. Please return the bottom portion of the flyer so we know who will be there and when. THANKS for your sales efforts! We just need one more day of assistance to cap off a most successful fruit & cheesecake sale!

4. The 8th grade boys basketball team lost to Pekin Edison last night 24-36. Dakota ***** led the Redbird scoring with 10 points and Ryan ***** with 7.

Extracurricular
1. The Book Fair Safari and Book Fair Ski Lodge have come to Metamora Grade School.
The Elementary Book Fair Safari is in the Library and will be open 8:30-6:00 on school days. The JH Book Fair Ski Lodge is in the New Gym Foyer and will also be open 8:30-6:00 on school days. Special Events include the PTO Family Movie Night Friday, Nov 14. During the movie we will raffle off books and posters. The JH Book Fair will be open during the school day and through the evening until 6:00 p.m.

2. Nov. 12 – Dec. 1 Tryouts for 7th grade volleyball will begin Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd for 8th grade. All girls trying out must have a current physical on file. See Coach Horner for any questions.

4. CONGRATULATIONS MGS SPEECH TEAM! The BIRDS WITH THE WORDS received 38 1st place medals and 8 2nd place ribbons on Friday at their State Contest. They did an outstanding job performing their scripts and representing the school. We are so proud of you Birds! Don't forget to stop by and let your practice coach know how you did at Contest and thank them for all of their time and hardwork!

5. Chorus and Band students: TURN IN YOUR FRUIT SALE ENVELOPES WHETHER YOUSOLD OR NOT! We are short 67 envelopes and recently had a large order turned in late that was forgotten about. Please give the envelopes to Mrs, Markle. If you have orders, please see Mrs. Markle immediately after announcements! Chorus & Band students - There will be a sign-up sheet going home for your parents to help on delivery day. Fruit will be delivered onDecember 4 (thurs.) and we NEED your help, too. Please take the note home. CONGRATULATIONS CHORUS and BAND singers and instrumentalists on yourEFFORTS to make this a great fund-raising season. We far-exceeded last year and it appears that this will be one the best results in recent years. THANK YOU!! You're the best!!
